A resistivity survey of the supposed Roman signal tower showed the ring ditch to be unusually small at 15-16m in diameter, with a single entrance break facing NW towards the assumed course of the Roman road. A ditch section, however, showed a normal Roman “V” sectioned ditch 71cm deep and 1.9m wide. The ditch was cut through what may to be the foundations of a round house, although the trench was too narrow for certainty.
